Geeky Tattoos

Let us be honest, if you are a proud geek, you want to show it somehow and if wearing Jayne’s hat or Tom Baker‘s scarf isn’t enough, you can always get a tattoo. Ooooo tattoos hurt and are forever and erm…..they’re forever! So what? If you are a geek, do you think you will grow out of it? Perhaps become something else? An emo, goth, or punk? I doubt it, because once a geek, always a geek! After all, being a geek is something to be proud of! You can watch The Big Bang Theory and understand the jokes! Why not celebrate your geekiness with a tattoo? I have with my Robbie the Robot tat. If you do decide that you want a tattoo but need some inspiration, why not visit Geeky Tattoos who were pretty much created to inspire you! Go on, give it a try and if you get one, don’t forget to send it in to both Geeky Tattoos and the Captain because we always want to celebrate being born Geek!

Home Made Sci Fi Pictures

Its amazing what you can find online. For instance, I found a foriegn langauge website, still not sure of the langauage which contained many great images of movie posters from the 1930′s to modern day which inspired me to do a little home decorating. I am sure this is a very grey area legally as they images are probably someone’s copyright but equiped with a photoprinter, and a pack of frames from Costco, I picked out some of my favourite movies and things seemed to workout ok!

The images are not huge ones, 6 x 4, 5 x 3 and so forth, the matting making up a lot of the space but they look good and I am pretty impressed!

All In A Row

Pictures. Pictures. All in a row

Four More

Four of my favourite movies: This Island Earth, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, The Thing, When Worlds Collide.

Robinson
A very underrated movie, Robinson Crusoe on Mars.

Three Of The Best

Three more classic movies: Forbidden Planet, The Day The Earth Caught Fire and The Day The Earth Stood Still.

The Thing Times Two

Two broadsheets for the 1953 movie, The Thing.

Five War Of The Worlds

Five War Of The Worlds sheets in four different languages.

My life gets extra geeky!

Yesterday I put together my brand spanking (there we go again with the spanking thing, is it wrong to spank something that isn’t new?) computer and discovered that yet again, unforeseen by me, I am going down the road of extra geekiness. Why? Because my new computer looks like the Torchwood SUV! You be the judge!

243 ways to improve Star Wars – just insert pants!

Even though this list has been running since 2003, it is still doing the rounds!

1    I find your lack of pants disturbing.
2    You are unwise to lower your pants.
3    The Force is strong in my pants.
4    Chewie and me got into a lot of pants more heavily guarded than this.
5    I cannot teach him. The boy has no pants.
6    You came in those pants? You’re braver than I thought.
7    Your pants, you will not need them.
8    In his pants you will find a new definition of pain and suffering
9    Governer Tarkin. I should have expected to find you holding Vader’s pants.
10    I think you just can’t bear to let a gorgeous guy like me out of your pants.
11    Pull up! All pants pull up!
12    I’ve just made a deal that will keep the Empire out of our pants forever
13    I sense the conflict within you. Let go of your pants!
14    These aren’t the pants you’re looking for.
15    Alderan is peaceful, we have no pants!
16    A disturbance in the pants. I have not felt this since near my old master…
17    Looks like someone’s beginning to take an interest in your pants.
18    That blast came from the pants! That thing’s operational!
19    The pants will be down in moments, sir, you can begin your landing
20    He has no time for smugglers who drop their pants first sign of Imperials

Declassified and Confidential – The way of the future

View From Behind The Couch

One of the great things about DVD`s is that they often contain extra`s such as a gag reel, and behind the scenes featurettes. I for one enjoy seeing how the movie was made, and hearing the various cast members give their opinions on many different things. Pirates of the Caribean: Dead Mans Chest for instance has hours and hours of the stuff. It gives added value to a movie that perhaps wasn`t that great but still you want to own it.

The BBC and Russell T Davies in their infinite widsom have come up with something similar for their Doctor Who & Torchwood series. After each new Doctor Who episode there is a Doctor Who Confidential which lets the writers, the actors and other members of the crew take you inside the filming of that episode. With Torchwood, its Torchwood Declassified, and the same applies with cast and crew all chipping in with opinions and little nuggets of knowledge that the geek, I mean fan really wants to know.

How this can transfer to other shows I am not too sure. The BBC is lucky to have several channels where they can show the main episode on one channel and then on another channel afterwards show the behind the scenes show. In North America it would have to be one channel showing the series and then straight afterwards showing the behind the scenes episode.

I hope that other producers, and writers take up the challenge thrown down by the Beeb and Russell T Davies and come up with their own ways of giving the viewers some behind the scenes access for other series.
