Sci Fi September # 7 – Robinson Crusoe On Mars

An American astronaut finds himself stranded on Mars with only a monkey for company and quickly has to find a way to live without oxygen, food and shelter. He is all alone on Mars, or is he?
A different take on the classic shipwrecked sailor story. RCOM takes huge liberties with the world of Mars for the sake of the story and while it is so beyond belief, you find yourself not minding as the story is so enjoyable if slightly slow.
Its fun to watch Commander Draper cope with the Mars atmosphere and how inventive he becomes to survive. Of course the fact that he has so much equipment does help but this is still a very good movie. Its cool to see a sci fi movie that doesn’t have space battles, or monstrous aliens, but just a story that would have worked just as easily if it has been set on Earth as it was on Mars.
If you are looking for a relaxing sci fi movie, not one filled with action but a more thoughtful one, then Robinson Crusoe On Mars is for you.
