First good turn of the year – Donate used eye glasses

Because my two year benefits for eyewear renews around Xmas, I got myself a couple of new pairs of glasses, one which makes me look intelligent and the other which, also makes me look intelligent!
While digging around in various boxes that have been returned to us from the company who was working on the basement, I found two pairs of glasses, my first ever eyewear infact!
It was 1994 or 1995, Saturday morning of a rugby international between Wales and Scotland I believe. A girlfriend who was pushing me to learn to drive suggested getting my eyes tested before driving. Sounded like a good idea so we went along to a place in a shopping center in Cardiff, one of those get your glasses done in an hour sort of thing that started appearing around that time. I was tested, and not to my surprise, found that I needed correctional glasses to see where I was going! Remember I mentioned a rugby game? Well, it was getting late in the morning, and taking into account that the glasses would take at least an hour, I had to rush to pick out two styles that I liked. That is my excuse for the rather 80s looking pairs I ended up with.
Anyway, after finding them this week, I dropped them off at my local Hakim Optical as I picked up my new pairs. Hakim Optical will make sure that my unfashionable glasses make it to those who need them in the third world. I truly pity the children who will be wearing my glasses as I can’t imagine them being any more fashionable there than they were here!
