Two brothers, reunited after one is released from prison attempt to reform their band in order to save the catholic home that they were raised in.

One of the greatest movies ever, The Blues Brothers incorporates some of the greatest soul and blues music with some of the funniest car chases and memorable scenes to conjure up a treat for the senses.

Starring Dan Akroyd as Elwood Blues and John Belushi as his brother Jake, director John Landis not only put actors in the movie, he pulled in some create singers and musicians such as James Brown, Cab Calloway, John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Steve Cropper, and Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn. With such a stellar case, Landis then proceeded to put in a few cameo roles with people such as John Candy, Steve Lawrence, Twiggy, Frank Oz, John Landis himself and Steven Spielberg. Finally, if you keep your eyes open you might spot Chaka Khan, Joe Walsh and even Paul ‘PeeWee’ Reubens. This is a movie filled to the brim with recognisable names.

Of course, music is a huge part of this movie with songs such as Sooth Me by Sam and Dave, Think by Aretha Franklin, and even Stand By Your Man. The Blues Brothers was responsible for many a person getting turned onto blues and soul.

The other main part of the movie is the numerous car chases which seems to destroy hundreds of police cars. Any fan of car chases will love the way that so many cars either crash, hit each other or just generally fail. The final car chase perhaps being the best of the bunch, the car chases are either supported by good music or by the two main cast members discussing such things are the new Oldsmobile cars or the good price of something else they see in a store.

There are many memorable moments in Blues Brothers, from the elevator scene that has been copied by many other movies (including the muzac), to the scene in toys are us that begins just as a customer asks ‘Do you have a Miss Piggy’ to the final concert. Its difficult to pick just one great moment.

If you have a funny bone in your body, you like car chases, you like great music, or you just have a couple of hours to spend, watch The Blues Brothers!
