Sci Fi September # 18 – The Quiet Earth
A man wakes up alone, the most alone anyone has ever been in his life, he may be the last man on earth.
This New Zealand made science fiction movie a clever little film. The first half hour or so shows Zac Hobson, played by Bruno Lawrence, doing what the last man on earth would do, anything. As things progress and he meets others, he meets others he slowly realises why he and the others survived while all other humans disappeared.
As the plot draws out, everything starts to make sense and the main character does, pretty much the only thing he believe he can do.
Its a slow movie, that probably could have been made into a 25 minute Twilight Zone epsiode that is still enjoyable and a bit of a thinker.
