Book Review – The Monkey's Raincoat – Robert Crais

Bought the book because a later book caught my eye and I figured best to start at the begining. Also is the author of the book that Hostage is based on!

Elvis Cole, detective. Not bad, not great, but readable, some clever writing, enjoyable. Will have to get the next one and see how it goes.

My Favourite Movie Quotes

ROY BATTY
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off
the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the
Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in
rain. Time to die.
BLADE RUNNER

(my fave of all time and still one of the most amazing lines I can
think of)

HELEN BENSON
Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!
THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

(I could have pulled this from Army of Darkness but I prefer the original)

ELWOOD P. DOWD
Well, I've wrestled with reality for thirty five years, Doctor, and
I'm happy to state I finally won out over it.
HARVEY

(I know what you mean Elwood, I know what you mean)

MAJ. MARGARET O'HOULIHAN
Oh, Frank, my lips are hot. Kiss my hot lips.
M*A*S*H

(Do I have to say anything about this?)

INIGO MONTOYA
Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!
THE PRINCESS BRIDE

(My fave quote from a movie I haven't seen!)

NADA
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of
bubble gum.
THEY LIVE

(The ultimate macho line)

VERBAL KINT
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he
didn't exist.
THE USUAL SUSPECTS

(One of the best twist in the tale movies)

LT. COL. BILL KILGORE
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
APOCALYPSE NOW

(Don't we all)

NED `SCOTTY' SCOTT
Watch the skies, everywhere, keep looking! Keep watching the skies!
THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD

(A classic movie)

MORTIMER BREWSTER
Insanity runs in my family. It practically gallops.
ARSENIC AND OLD LACE

(Again, I know what you mean!)

Book Review – The Golden Rendezvous – Alistair MacLean

This is a classic thriller. A hi-jacked ship, an atomic bomb, and 150 million dollars in gold. Fast paced, intense and written in a style that keeps the pages turning. this is probably the tenth time I have read it and I still love each and every page. No swearing, limited violence, and no sex. And it totally rocks!!

Book Review – Winter Prey – John Sandford

A child sex ring in a small town sets off a bloody trail of murders until Lucas Davenport can find the killer. While the style isn’t fantastic, the plot isn’t amazing, and the characters great, there is definatly something about a John Sandford book that draws the reader in and triggers that primeval instinct to try and finish the book as soon as possible!

Fame at last

Yes folks, I am famous! Well I am if you read the South Wales Echo on Saturday (while Wales were winning the Grand Slam!) for my picture was there (along with my little bundle of fun, Rhys) with a brief paragraph or two on how I would be listening to the game. Ah, I can almost hear the autograph hunters charging towards me………..

Book Review – The Advocate by Bill Mesce Jr

From the Publisher
A novel of World War II, conspiracy, and murder

It is 1943 — and the unthinkable has happened: a local spotter on the remote English coastline has witnessed American pilots, returning from a bombing run, turning their guns on one of their own.

The victim and his plane are downed, and the spotter and his wife are the next targets as the rogue American planes return to strafe their home, their livestock, with such force and purpose that it is a miracle anyone survives.

What could cause decorated leaders of men to kill their brother-in-arms and then viciously attack Allied civilians? For JAG Lieutenant Harry Voss, the investigation will become his personal war, igniting a series of revelations that detonate up the chain of command and threaten Harry”s career — and then his life.

A world war two legal drama where the line between war and murder are blurred. Great characters, with a slightly confusing plot. Very enjoyable though
